How to play
Link real teammates
Squadlink is a turn-based game where you must name a footballer who links to the previously played player through a shared club during overlapping years. For example, if your opponent plays Henrikh Mkhitaryan, you can play Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, since they played together at Arsenal.
Chess-style timers
You and your opponent each have 90 seconds to complete the entire match. Use your time wisely to dictate the pace: play fast to keep the pressure on and drain their clock, or take your time to strategically trap them with hard-to-link players.
Corner your opponent
Clubs are capped at three uses per match, meaning the easy routes will quickly disappear as the game progresses. If you trap your opponent and leave them with no legal moves, the game will play a random footballer for them and penalise them by taking 10 seconds off their clock.
Lifelines
Each player has three lifelines to turn the tide. Substitution plays a random footballer for you, Team Sheet reveals the current footballer's full club career, and Push sends the footballer back to your opponent for another turn.
Every player connects. Find the link.
Squadlink is a free online multiplayer football trivia game built on real football connections: every link in the chain is an actual teammate spell, checked against the squads both players really appeared in.
